Roc Sandford — Works: Writing, Art, Sound, Film and Press
Gerard Dalton
I am a writer, member of artists' collectives Ocean Rebellion & Hard Art, climate & nature dissident and organic farmer. Offering not only a lyrical take on nature's mystery but a rational one on the dangerous stresses we face, Burnt Rain was published by Hazel Press in July 2023 and Rebel, Rebel — An Emergency Dialogue, written with Susana Medina, was published by Gometra Press in June 2024. Gerry's Pompeii, a study of the art of Gerard Dalton, was published by Gometra Press in May 2026.
Writing, editing, profiles, reviews and interviews have appeared in Dark Mountain, Telegraph, Times, Mail, Guardian, Observer, Sun, Mirror, Scotsman, Herald, Reuters & many other outlets. Work has been the subject of documentaries & dramatisations by BBC, Dmitri Galitzine, ARTE, ZDF, RTÉ One and Stacey Dooley.
As a mathematical geographer, I modelled perceptual bias at Bristol, Penn State and UCL; was a member of David Graeber's Brains Trust; am a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and a director of Mathematical Sciences UK and community arts charity Gerry's Pompeii. Having helped start Writers Rebel, David Graeber Institute, Absurd Intelligence and Catalysers, I present on climate and nature collapse and associated risks to multilateral bodies, government, finance, accountancy & academia.
I live on the off-grid Hebridean Isle of Gometra (possessed by ancestors or their families in Clans Maclean, Campbell and MacDonald off and on since Norse times) and otherwise part-time in London.
